Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about hair extensions, our process, and what to expect at Toni Salon.

For fine hair, we typically recommend Halo extensions or Tape-In extensions. These methods are gentle and distribute weight evenly without putting stress on individual strands. K-Tip extensions can also work well when applied with fewer, lighter strands. Your specialist will assess your hair density during the consultation.

K-Tip keratin bond extensions typically last 4–6 months with proper care. The longevity depends on your hair growth rate, daily hair care routine, and how well you follow the maintenance guidelines provided by your specialist.

Tape-In extensions generally last 6–8 weeks before requiring a move-up appointment. The tape wefts are repositioned as your natural hair grows. The hair itself can be reused multiple times, making tape-ins a cost-effective long-term option.

Hair extension pricing varies based on the method chosen, the amount of hair required, the length, and the color. Pricing is discussed during your personal consultation. We encourage you to book a complimentary consultation so we can give you an accurate quote tailored to your specific hair goals.

The number of pieces depends on your desired result, your natural hair density, and the extension method. During your consultation, your specialist will assess your hair and recommend the ideal quantity for a natural, seamless look.

Sew-In extensions are wefts sewn onto braided tracks, providing maximum volume and security. They are ideal for clients with thicker hair who want dramatic length and fullness. Tape-In extensions use adhesive wefts sandwiched around your natural hair and are better suited for finer hair or those seeking a more temporary solution.

Our premium human hair extensions can be colored and styled just like your natural hair. However, we recommend having any color work done by our specialists to ensure the extensions and your natural hair are perfectly matched and the hair integrity is preserved.

Yes. Professional removal is essential to protecting your natural hair. We offer extension removal at both our Manhattan and Brooklyn locations. Attempting to remove extensions at home without proper tools can cause damage.

We provide a detailed care guide after every installation. In general: use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner, brush gently from ends to roots, avoid applying conditioner or oil near the bonds/roots, and sleep with hair in a loose braid. Regular maintenance appointments are key to keeping extensions looking their best.
